The oxathiolanes formed were characterized by spectral and elemental analyses. The infrared spectra indicated the absence of ketone absorption, and there were present envelopes in the nmr spectras at 3.8-4.1 and 2.3-2.9 ppm downfield from TMS, characteristic of methylene groups adjacent to sulfur and oxygen atoms, respectively.
