Abstract

A new class of phosphatides and a generally applicable method for the synthesis of its members is described. The new phosphatides, which can be regarded as analogs of both the lecithins and lysolecithins, and which differ from these substances only in that they contain glycol instead of glycerol, have been assigned the generic name “glycollecithin.”* The glycollecithins possess neither positional-nor stereoisomers.
