. I study of the reaction of S-nitroso-N-(2, 2-diphen~-lcycloprop~ l)-urea with various bases has been carried out. The most effective base was found to be lithium ethoxide (presumably- as its alcoholate). In the absence of carbene acceptors the reaction leads to a high yield (up to 96%) of 1, l-diphenylallene. Reaction of the nitrosourea with base in the presence of acceptor olefins leads to a mixture of 1, l-diphenylallene and the spiropentane (ca. 20y0) ...
