Experimental Metalation of Thiophene.-An ethereal solution of n-butyllithium was prepared by the gradual addition of 27.4 g.(0.20 mole) of n-butyl bromide to a stirred suspension of 4.0 g. of lithium (cut into small cubes, 3 to 5 mm. on a side) in 200 ml. of dry ether.
