Abstract

Dioxodioxa [n] paracyclophanes which carry two methoxyl, ethoxyl, or propoxyl groups at the aromatic rings were prepared by condensation of α, ω-diols with corresponding 2, 5-dialkoxy- 1, 4-phenylenediacetyl dichlorides under high dilution conditions. Dynamic 1 H NMR spectra of these compounds show that barriers to internal rotation of the dialkoxybenzene rings are affected by the chain-length of the alkoxyl groups; the longer the chain length, ...
