Abstract Derivatives of Disilanes Xme 2 SiSi me 2 X with X= H, F, Cl, Br, J, O me, Ph, S me, and Si 2 me 5 S me were prepared, some of them for the first time, and investigated by spectroscopic methods. The hitherto unknown group of sulphur compounds of disilanes show similarities with the corresponding polysilane (Si n me 2 n+ 2, n= Si+ S) in their UV-, IR and Raman spectra, resulting from the similar mass of sulphur and silicon.
