Abstract Nucleophilic attack of 8-substituted indeno [1, 2-c] isoxazol-7-ones (1) and 3- phenylindeno [1, 2-c] isoxazol-4-one (4) by dimethylsulfoxide or triphenylphosphine results in cleavage of the nitrogen [BOND] oxygen bond of the isoxazole ring leading to the formation of sulfoximides (2 and 5) and phosphazenes (3 and 8).
