Abstract The reaction of S-methylisothiocarbohydrazide hydroiodide [H 2 NNHC (SCH 3) NNH 2· HI] with NiCl 2· 6H 2 O in water at room temperature yielded a triple-stranded dinickel (II) helicate [Ni II (L 1–L 1) 3 Ni II] I 4· 4H 2 O (1 4+· 4I–· 4H 2 O), where L 1–L 1= H 2 NNHC (SCH 3) NNC (SCH 3) NHNH 2, in 35% yield, which spontaneously separates in enantiomers upon crystallization.
