Abstract

Methods for the protection of phenolic hydroxy functions usually involve formation of alkyl ethers or esters. Groups such as acety1, l pivolyl, 2 vinylcarboxy, 3 and fluoren-9-ylcarboxy4 are among the most commonly used carboxylic acid groups.
