Abstract

Some extensions of the selenosulfonation of olefins of possible synthetic utility have been investigated:(a) Photoaddition of bis@-tolylsulfony1) selenide (7), ArSOzSeSOzAr (Ar= p- CH3C6H4), to alkenes leads to Se-8-@-tolylsulfony1) alkyl p-tolueneselenosulfonates, ArSO& (<)-C (<) SeSOzAr, and bis (Pp-tolylsulfonylalkyl) diselenides,(ArSO, C (<)-C (<) Se- ),, the latter probably resulting from photodecomposition of the former.
