Abstract Bromogermane (GeH 3 Br) and Me 3 N (1: 1 mole ratio) reaction at− 78 C yields Me 2 N· GeH 3 Br (1). 1 with H 2 O or MeOH yields (GeH 3) 2 O or MeOGeH 3, respectively. 1 with a one molar excess of Me 3 N forms (Me 3 N) 2 GeH 3 Br (2). Thermal decomposition of 2 produces mainly Ge 3 H 8 (25–30%) and Me 3 NHBr. GeH 3 Br with excess Me 3 N in Et 2 O at 0 C yields Me 3 NHBr and a species in solution formulated as Me 3 NGeH 2 (3). ...
