Abstract

The reaction of NaAuCl4 with [(Bzim) 3PAuCl] forms a tetranuclear cluster [{μ-N, N′-(Bzim) 3PAuCl} 2Au2][AuCl2][AuCl4]. The X-ray structure of the mixed Au (I)/Au (III) complex shows the formation of a 12-membered macrocycle. In the tetranuclear arrangement, the Au··· Au interactions range from 2.99 to 3.77 Å along with relatively short, Au··· H− C hydrogen bonds (2.59 and 2.57 Å).
