Abstract

Summary: Alkyl-substituted polyether diols (or polythioether diols), which are potential precursors to substituted crown ethers, are produced in high yield by the selective reductive cleavage of C-0 bonds in bis (cyc1ic acetals)[or bis (cyc1ic hemithioacetals)] by borane or monochloroborane.
