Abstract Pentacarbonyl (methoxyphenylarbene) chromium reacts with tolan on warming in n- heptane to give the tricarbonylchromium complexes of 3-methoxy-1, 2-diphenylindene, 2- methoxy-3, 4, 5-triphenylfuran and 4-methoxy-2, 3-diphenyl-1-naphthol. The uncoordinated isocyclic and heterocyclic compounds can also be isolated in some cases. The compounds are identified by spectroscopic methods.
