Abstract

The acyloin condensation of the lactone ester 13a derived from enmein (1), a diterpenoid bitter principle from Isodon trichocarpusKudo, was invesitgated. The acyloin products were converted into 33 through several steps of reactions, while abietic acid was transformed into 39.
