Novel long-chain dialkyl fluorene-9, 9-dicarboxylates were synthesized by treating fluorene with lithium diisopropylamide followed by alkyl chloroformates. The fluorene derivatives were readily electro-oxidized to form electroactive films on the surface of a glassy carbon electrode.
