Abstract

In general the UV spectra of (II) were similar to those of previously reported furo-l, 4- dihydropyridines [i]. In (IIh, i), which have two substituents in the aromatic ring, a fourth absorption maximum was present at around 280 nm. In the oxidized products (III), there was no long wavelength absorption, but a band appeared with a maximum at~ 280 nm.
