Abstract: A variety of substituted selenoaldehydes has been prepared via fluoride desilylation of a-silyl selenocyanates or base-induced elimination of HCN from simple selenocyanates containing electron-accepting or conjugating substituents. Cycloaddition reactions of electron-deficient or conjugated selenoaldehydes with electrically biased dienes proceed efficiently giving substituted selenapyrans. Selenal cycloadditions exhibit ...
