Abstract

Luminescent, dimetallic rhenium complexes, linked by aliphatic chains of varying lengths and functionality, demonstrate great utility as live cell imaging agents. The degrees of uptake and localization properties are influenced by the length and chemical nature of the linkers, and by interactions between these and the various cellular components encountered.
