Abstract

A series of novel pyridone carboxylic acids having a 4-hydroxypiperazinyl group at the 7- position of norfloxacin and ciprofloxacin were prepared. The in vivo antibacterial efficacies of these compounds were superior to those of corresponding piperazinyl derivatives.
