Summary (Trifluoromethyl) trichlorosilane (I) has been prepared for the first time by the reaction of CF 3 SiH (NMe 2) 2 (III) with HCl in dibutyl ether and, as a solution in CH 2 Cl 2, by nucleophilic trifluoromethylation of SiCl 4 with CF 3 Br/P (NEt 2) 3.
