Abstract Two new alkaloids, pseudorine (Ia)(quaternary benzyltetrahydroisoquinoline type) and pseudoronine (II)(benzil type), were isolated from the roots of Papaver pseudo-orientale (FEDDE) MEDW. This is a first occurrence of this type of alkaloids in Papaveraceae.
