Abstract

Many organophosphorus compounds (OPCs), including those used as drugs for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and glaucoma [1, 2], exhibit significant acute toxicity related to the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (ACE) activity in neuronal synapses and, in addition, lead to delayed distal neuropathy manifested by a long axon degeneracy in the spinal cord and peripheral nerves.
