Abstract

Abstract 5, 6-Dimethoxy-benzo [b] thiophene-3-acetic acid and 5, 6, 7-trimethoxy-benzo [b] thiophene-3-acetic acid were synthesized by cyclization of the corresponding methoxy- substituted γ-(phenylthio)-acetoacetates, followed by hydrolysis of the esters.
