Abstract. The 3-alkoxy-4-methylbenzaldehydes (3a-e) can be obtained by alkylation of the hydroxy compound 1. Reaction with aniline yields the azomethines (4a-e) which enter in an alkaline medium a polycondensation to the title cornpounds 5a-e.
