Abstract

Oxyhalogenations have been previously reported using acetic acid as solvent and hydrogen peroxide as the oxidant. However, this is the first report of the use of HX (1 or 2 equiv)/H 2 O 2 (30%, 6.5 equiv)/AcOH (6.5 equiv) in an oxidative halogenation reaction using a nonpolar organic solvent. The molar ratios of H 2 O 2 (30%, 6.5 equiv) and AcOH (6.5 equiv) vs. the substrate (1 equiv) afforded the best yields of halogenated products during our optimisation efforts, ...
