Abstract

Abstract Structurally different carbonyl compounds were converted into their corresponding cyclic acetals using polyaniline-sulfate salt as catalyst in dry toluene in excellent yield. In turn, useful deacetalization in aqueous medium was demonstrated. Chemoselective protection of carbonyl compounds was also demonstrated.
