Abstract

R= n-C3H,, n-CJl8, n-C6H11. The partial resolution of three of these acids was effected by extensive crystallization of their brucine salts. The specific rotations ([a]:) of these acids were low:+ 1.05',+ 1.23'and+ 2.34 Ofor 2-ethyl-2-methylpentanoic, 2-ethyl-2-methylhexanoic and 2-ethyl-2-methylheptanoic acids, respectively. l2 The homologous acids reported in the literature have recorded higher rotations: 2-ethyl-2-methyleicosanoic acid,[a] L3-4.2808 ...
