Abstract The reaction of 1, 2-anhydro-3, 4: 5, 6-di-O-isopropylidene-1-C-nitro-d-mannitol (2) with potassium hydrogenfluoride in ethylene glycol under anhydrous conditions provides a route to 2-deoxy-2-fluoro-d-glucose, the 18 F-labeled analog of which is an important radiopharmaceutical of use in medical imaging.
