Abstract

Podocarpane-tethered chromiumalkynylaminocarbene complexes were synthesised by reaction of a 13-acetyloxycarbene with 2-alkynylaniline derivatives. Thermolysis of isolated alkynylaminocarbenes gave 13-indolylpodocarpane derivatives in moderate yields, while heating of the (arylalkynyl)aminocarbenes without isolation gave more than one heterocyclic product. Ester derivatives were formed by trapping the intermediate ketene with butan-l-ol.
