A novel crosslinked polymeric 2, 5-di-t-butyl-1, 4-dialkoxybenzene derivative bearing dialkoxyaryl redox centers has been prepared and evaluated as a cathode material in a Li- ion battery. The polymer is a macromolecular analogue of the well known redox shuttle 2, 5- di-t-butyl-1, 4-dimethoxybenzene. The high cell voltage of 4V and stable cycling behavior make the novel polymer a promising prototype of a new class of cathode materials.
