Abstract

The nature and arrangement of ligands determine whether a one-step protonation transfer or alkane loss is the rate-determining step in protonolysis reactions of platinum (II) alkyl complexes. P-donor ligands will facilitate the first mechanism relative to N ligands, but this results in a less favorable energetics and efficiency in activating the CH bond.
