Abstract: Amino group of thiazole (SMB-1) have been treated with various aromatic aldehydes to get corresponding Schiff bases (SMB-2 to SMB-9). These Schiff bases have been then reacted with chloroacetyl chloride to get corresponding azetidinones (SMB-2a to SMB-9a).
