It has been shown by means of 15N that p-nitrophenylhydrazones of benzoin, cyclohexanolone and d-fructose form osazones according to Weygrand's Scheme A. The intermediate monoimino-α-diketones postulated in this mechanism have been isolated in the form of their N-acyl derivatives.
