Abstract

The acidic products obtained from metalation and subsequent carbonation of 1-dodecene are shown to vary with time. At short reaction times 2-tridecenoic acid, arising from metalation at the terminal vinylic position, predominates. At longer reaction times the major producta are &-punsaturated acids, due to metalation at the allylic position.
