Abstract Economic and practical advantages are offered by the iron (III)-catalyzed and air- mediated tandem coupling/hydroarylation/dehydrogenation of simple readily available aldehydes, alkynes, and amines for the synthesis of 2, 4-disubstituted quinolines (see scheme).
