Abstract

The structures of (IIa, b) and (IIIa, b) were proved by their PMR spectra (Table i). The choice between the two possible positions for the substituent X in these compounds (structures A and B) was made by comparing the experimental value of the chemical shift of the proton in the five-membered ring with the values calculated for the expected structures.
