Abstract The synthesis and characterization of chlorogermylenes and (diazomethyl) germylenes involving the germanium atom coordinated to a tungsten pentacarbonyl group are reported. Treatment of chlorogermylene 1 with pentacarbonyl (tetrahydrofuran) tungsten led to chlorogermylene complex 2 in good yield.
