Abstract

1 R = H 11 K = Ac SCWCHzOAc c-0 ... 117 zene gave 479 mg. of the monoacetate, mp 151-152' (cor.), [aIz5~ + 16" (acetone). A solvated form which melted with decomposition at about 130-140" was ob- tained by crystallization from dilute alcohol. Saponifica- tion of the mother liquors gave a nearly quantitative yield of the'free diol, mp 256-258'. For analysis a sample was heated at 120 O in vucuo for two hours. Anal.
