Abstract The preparation of sulfines by oxidation of thioketones is described. Thiobenzophenone-S-oxide (I) and 4, 4′-dimethoxythiobenzophenone-S-oxide (II) were obtained by oxidizing the corresponding thioketone with less than one equivalent of monoperphthalic acid.
