Abstract

The starting materials used were 4-allyl-, 4-phenyl-, and 4-(4-alkoxybenzyl)-substituted thiosemicarbazides, obtained by reacting the appropriate isothiocyanates with hydrazine hydrate. These thiosemicarbazides were chosen on the basis that their presence in monothiosemicarbazones is reported [5] to result in a considerable decrease in toxicity and a substantial increase in the therapeutic effectiveness of the compounds.
