The dehydrobrotnination of certain a, a-dibromoacetals was studied in an attempt to prepare allenes of the type, R2C= C= C (OCzHb) n. Reaction of the dibromopropionaldehyde acetal (I) yielded only propiolaldehyde acetal (11).
