Abstract

Abstract: Benzil-sensitized photoepoxidation of the mycotoxins aflatoxin BI and sterigmatocystin provided the presumed reactive epoxides which have been implicated in mutagenesis and carcinogenesis. These intermediates, after trapping with 3', 5'-di-U- butyryldeoxyguanosine and hydrolysis with aqueous acid, led to the"-guanine adducts identical with the in vivo natural products.
