Abstract

In order to obtain isomers of the substituted N-4-diphenylylamidines (I)(Part I, J., 1950, 1826) which, whilst possessing similar lipoid solubilities and basic strengths, are devoid of the p- aminobenzoic acid skeleton present in (I), a series of N-substituted p-phenylbenzamidines (11) has been prepared by interaction of 4-cyanodiphenyl and the arylsulphonates of a number of ahphatic, aromatic, and alicyclic amines.
