Abstract The preparation of several 3ß-hydroxy-Δ 1, 5-androstanes and pregnanes is described. The rotational and NMR effects of the 3β-hydroxy-Δ 1, 5-system are presented. The anabolic and androgenic results in the rat of one of these (3, R R' H) are also presented.
