Abstract: 4-Chloro-1-p-biphenylyl-I, 1-diphenylbutane reacts with potassium, cesium, and Cs- K-Na alloy in tetrahydrofuran (THF) to give 4-p-biphenylyl-1, l-diphenylbutyl anion as deduced from the nmr spectrum of the anion and products of carbonation and protonation.
