Summary Seventeen new 5-alkyl (or 5-phenyl)-5-alkoxyalkylhydantoins have been prepared from the corresponding alkyl (or phenyl) n-or iso-propoxymethyl ketones. Of these, the 5-isopropoxymethyl-5-phenylhydantoin exhibits outstanding activity as an anticonvulsant.
