Abstract

Experimental8 n-Heptaldehyde Carbomethoxyhydrazone.-A mixture of 36 g.(0.4 mole) of methyl carbazate, 51.3 g.(0.45 mole) of n-heptaldehyde, 100 ml. of methanol, and 0.5 ml. of acetic acid was heated to reflux and allowed to stand overnight. The solvents were removed under reduLed pressure, and the residue was crystallized from ethyl acetate. There was ob- tained 67.5 g.(91%) of colorless needles, mp 55-58'.
