Abstract The water soluble monobenzene complex of ruthenium,[Ru (η 6-C 6 H 6)(CH 3 CN) 3](BF 4) 2 (1) is an effective catalyst or catalyst precursor for the hydrogenation of olefinic functions in benzene/H 2 O biphasic medium.
