Abstract

In a mixture of trifluoroacetic acid and water, the combination of metallic palladium and copper chloride catalyzes the hydroxylation of remote primary CH bonds of a variety of acids, alcohols, and aliphatic halides, in the presence of carbon monoxide and dioxygen.
